Workforce Accommodation Camps

Workforce Camp Capacity Increase

  • Wheatstone Village Expansion

Bechtel Australia worked with ATCO Structures to increase the capacity of Chevron Australia’s existing Wheatstone Village to accommodate a further 2,000 workers.

The scope of works included design, manufacture, installation, and services connection of 500 quartet accommodation units (14.4 m x 4.1 m), a 39 m x 28.8 m crib prep and dining hall (that doubled as a cyclone shelter), a 27 m x 24 m change house, recreational facilities, medical facilities, cleaner storage, laundries, and administration facilities.

The accommodation units were designed with a larger-than-usual living area featuring a single bed, bedside table, wardrobe, desk with chair, wall-mounted TV, and phone. The bathroom fit-out included a glass-enclosed shower, ceramic vanity, mirror, and toilet, all complemented with high-quality fittings.

During the two-year project, ATCO Structures met all required project handover dates and was awarded Subcontractor of the Month for three consecutive months.
