Growing the Australian ATCO Structures Footprint

  • Adelaide Manufacturing Facility & Sales Branch Opens

ATCO Structures has officially opened its third modular manufacturing facility and ninth sales branch in Australia. The addition of this facility at 55-61 Kaurna Avenue, Edinburgh SA, will see our modular manufacturing capability increase.

The building was officially opened on the 14th of March 2025 by ATCO Structures President Adam Beattie and Hon. Joe Szakacs MP – Minister for Trade, Investment, Local Government and Veterans Affairs in the presence of various dignitaries, including Mr Matt Burnell MP – Federal Member for Spence.

“It is wonderful that we are now able to further grow the ATCO Structures footprint in Australia by opening our new facility here in Edinburgh, South Australia, at a time when modular construction is a critical player in the residential housing, public services, and industrial sectors”, Mr. Beattie said.

Measuring 2,620 m2, the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility began production of modules in mid-January this year. Now officially opened, the team is excited to get the facility operating at peak performance and producing three modules a day, with the potential to produce 800 modules a year.

The facility will run dual production lines to meet custom and standard module needs, providing greater capacity throughout Australia in modular housing, remote workforce villages, commercial and industrial buildings, community facilities, classrooms, medical facilities, sporting facilities, and much more.

Leading the charge is Branch Manager Liam Kelly, who is working with a high calibre team of apprentices, qualified trades, administration staff, sales consultants, and more to assist schools, construction project teams, local councils, commercial and industrial businesses, mining companies, and government departments, with their modular construction needs.

The business is dedicated to supporting the local community by partnering with local suppliers and providing valuable employment opportunities in the region. We offer a comprehensive training program, currently employing three apprentices, and providing the opportunity to develop valuable skills to support a long career in the modular construction industry.

Historically, South Australia holds significance as the original location where the ATCO Structures division commenced operations in Australia. The original 6,500m2 manufacturing facility and accompanying leasing division was established in 1961, in Elizabeth, SA and was the successful driving force that laid the foundations for ATCO’s presence around the country.

In 1986, the original manufacturing and leasing division was sold to Fortuna Corp, leaving the energy division, ATCO Australia, to continue developing power stations such as the Osborne Co-generation Power Station in Osborne. Twelve years later, the Structures Manufacturing and Leasing Division returned to Australia via the procurement of Compaq, an existing modular construction company that has since expanded throughout the country with nine sales branches and three manufacturing facilities, as well as a Queensland-based Corporate Office.
