Bernie Bramble
Introducing Bernie Bramble, a Space Rentals External Sales Representative at our Brisbane Sales Branch since 2020 with more than 30 years of prior industry experience, specialising in the building and construction sector. We recently chatted with Bernie about her passion and extensive knowledge of the modular construction industry.
In your opinion, what is the key benefit when renting an ATCO Structures building?
ATCO has a long-term national reputation as a market leader and the go-to company for relocatable buildings. We are also known for our expertise and experienced staff, quality of product, speed in the market, and honesty & integrity.
What innovative ways have you seen a client use a rental ATCO Structures building?
The uses for our relocatable buildings are endless, I’ve worked with clients who have used them for long-term and short-term commercial offices, short-term doctors’ surgeries, pop-up display units for new apartments and real estate development sales, and more. I’ve also worked with clients to design stacked units to fit in smaller footprints and maximize their available space on-site.
In your opinion, what makes modular construction better than traditional construction methods?
Modular construction is a more convenient solution that offers a fast achievable outcome with less disruption to the site. ATCO Structures buildings can be easily configured and hired or purchased with a fast turnaround to meet a project's needs.
For our hire clients, there is usually a small waiting time before a project starts, our relocatable buildings mean a small project team can start quickly on-site with a small lead time, while the construction compound and site are built around them.
Clients who purchase a building are usually looking for a solution that provides less disruption. Our relocatable buildings are designed to the specific requirements of the client then built off-site, with no disruption to the final site/staff, and then delivered and installed resulting in a fast transition.
Explain how you provide value and innovative solutions for your clients.
I work with a team of experienced individuals who enhance my knowledge enabling me to assist our clients with their site layout and the purpose of their requirements, providing a complete value-based solution. Whether they are planning to repurpose an existing building or design a building specifically to meet their needs we deliver a value-based solution that can be hired or purchased.
Where would you like to see modular construction products utilised more, and why?
I would like to see modular construction methods utilised more in the public sector, for hospitals, satellite hospitals, prisons and more.
Modular construction methods have evolved considerably over the 30 years I have been in the industry. The buildings used to be quite basic, but today they can be complex, making it hard to distinguish if it’s been built by modular or traditional construction methods.
What is the most memorable ATCO Structures project that you have participated in and why?
One that sticks with me is the construction compound we designed and installed for John Holland in 2023 for the Gold Coast Light Rail Project. It was a new client that we didn’t traditionally work with here in Brisbane and a job that spanned two separate sites. One of which was wedged in between two main roads and utilised our stacker/two-storey buildings to fit the manning requirements for the job.
Regarding your career, what’s the best advice you have been given and how does it influence your day-to-day job?
As a woman in a male-dominated industry when I was first employed, it was a lot about proving myself credible and trustworthy. As my career has progressed, my integrity regarding this still hasn’t changed. The best advice given to me when I first started, and which I live by day to day, was to think like your customers, treat them the way you want to be treated, and that communication is king!
What do you hope will be your lasting impact on ATCO Structures?
Since working at ATCO Structures, I’ve mentored staff internally and passed on my knowledge to assist them to be the best they can be. I would like to think that future ATCO employees will remember Bernie Bramble for her contribution and the success of the Brisbane branch.
