Modular Buildings

Serving the AFL & Cricket Communities

  • Gore Hill Oval Sporting & Community Facilities

In 2019, due to safety conditions and community needs, Willoughby City Council proposed redeveloping Gore Hill Oval Park and sporting precinct. ATCO Structures supported project leaders Glascott Landscape and Civil to deliver a functional new modular facility as part of the redevelopment project.

Designed to suit the sloping terrain, the modular building was installed on a raised platform, facilitating accessible rear access while providing a raised platform to view the field. The 660 m2 building included multi-purpose rooms, male and female amenities and changerooms, accessible amenities, store rooms, and a commercial kitchen.

The building featured glass sliding doors and roof-to-floor windows to provide uninterrupted views of the sporting field from inside, along with covered walkways and a central covered open space for outside spectator shelter. Electric roller shutters were utilised to separate changerooms and provide room size flexibility.

Historically, the field served local cricket and AFL teams but was often deemed unfit for play by mid-season due to muddy conditions. To address this issue, the redevelopment project included a significant upgrade to the sports field, ensuring it is suitable for year-round use. Additionally, an adventure playground was installed, creating a versatile and highly functional community space.

ATCO completed manufacturing the facility in twelve weeks, with installation completed over the following four weeks, showcasing the fast turnaround of modular construction.
